Porter Back on the Podium

Quick Pick Motorsports driver Andrew Porter has been a hot shoe during this 2014 season so far. While the slope has recently headed down the pylon, Porter and the Bowles' Team have been hitting the books and the track for practice time in an attempt to pick up some lost momentum and get Porter back racing for the win. July 5th at Irwindale Speedway was the beginning of Porter's comeback.
Practice was not the beginning of this swing, however. Porter went out and only put up the 10th fastest time. As per team usual, the team did not take to the track during the second session. It should be noted that the #7 machine often practices during the week, and more importantly, during race time. (FULL STORY)

Beaten and Battered

July 5th at Irwindale Speedway was not a kind event to the #43 of Quick Pick Motorsports driver Kenny Smith. The truck not only failed to finish the race, but did so in tattered fashion. What looked like the start of a promising night quickly turned.
Smith practiced per usual, putting up the eighth fastest time in the first session and picking it up to fourth fastest in round #2. The hot day produced a severely loose track which sent Smith all over the place during qualifying. The time trials left Smith 12th fastest and not entirely pleased.
Still, one good thing did come out of the unsavory lap: it put Kenny into the trophy dash. The quick six lap dash had some brief three wide action, and Smith made his bid for third early on.  (FULL STORY)

Porter on the Limiter

Quick Pick Motorsports driver Andrew Porter has been on a tear in 2014, pushing his inner limits to the brim and racing in everything he can get his hands on. This weekend will be a rare miss in the truck series for him, but perhaps allows just enough attention on the Late Model to make the difference.
While the truck continues to mend in the shop, Porter will be taking out the Bowles' #7 for a run at the win. This July 5th, the Fourth of July celebration night, is always one of the biggest weekends of racing for Irwindale Speedway. This gives drivers the opportunity to showcase their talent not only in front of the regulars (FULL STORY)

Smith Rages On

Quick Pick Motorsports driver Kenny Smith has had another rollercoaster of a year in racing. In the S2 car, he can do nearly no wrong, finishing high against his young competition. In the truck series at Irwindale Speedway, it has been a bit more of a struggle, but this weekend the veteran is looking to turn around his trucking 2014.
This will be the first truck race of the year that Smith will take on alone. Grandson Andrew has been running every race up till now, but has a truck to put back together before it will see the pavement again. While Porter will be racing Late Models, this leaves Kenny to challenge the truckers by himself.
Kenny has years of experience and achievements to show he can be a fierce competitor, which completely fits the mold of the Irwindale Race Truck division. Each and every week, multiple drivers contend for the win. While this year has been mostly dominated by Ryan Partridge, there is still an open door of opportunity for drivers like that of the black and green #43 to wreak havoc. (FULL STORY)
